Detoxification

Introduction

The average person eats three meals a day, seven days per week, and 352 days per year! They “occasionally” overeat and frequently snack between these meals and late at night resulting in an overburdened digestive and elimination system. The incomplete processed food is retained and stored as cell waste. The above process can be referred to as intoxification

The result of intoxification

The waste accumulations impair the body’s normal metabolic processes, block the elimination routes and result in toxicity. It gives rise to illness and general weakness. Common sources of these toxins include:

  • Paints
  • Pesticides used to spray fruits and vegetables
  • Aluminum cooking utensils and other heavy metals
  • Household disinfectants
  • Exhaust fumes
  • Cosmetics
  • Certain medications.

Observed symptoms of toxification: It is difficult to diagnose this condition, but the observed symptoms include:

General tiredness

  • Fatigue
  • Lack of energy

Psychosomatic manifestations o Concentration difficulties

  • Hyperactivity
  • Nervousness & anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Mood changes
  • Depression
  • Headaches

Cardiovascular disorders o Hypertension / high blood pressure

  • Cardiovascular disease includes high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels

Rheumatic disorders

  • Joint pains
  • Gout

Immune system disorders o Proneness to infections

  • Frequent colds and flu
  • Immune system weakness
  • Runny nose
  • Allergies & itchy nose

Herring’s Law of Natural Cure

This Law of Natural Cure (named for Constantine Herring) describes the occurrence / recurrence of previous illness as the body heals itself. The following is important in the natural healing process:

  1. Symptoms move from the inside to the outside of the body. Toxic matter from deep within may manifest as boils or rashes on the skin
  2. Symptoms move from the upper part to the lower part of the body
  3. Symptoms relating to chronic conditions disappear in the reverse order of their appearance. The symptoms that have appeared last will be the first to leave.

Detoxification

The natural cleansing and detoxification systems of the body are powerful and effective tools for maintaining optimum health. The following detox strategies can be implemented:

  • Cleansing or purifying diet: The elimination of heavy starches, proteins, and fats give the digestive system a break and the self-cleansing of the body can kick in. This diet includes fresh fruits and vegetables. Individuals with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels) should stabilize their blood sugar levels before implementing this detox strategy.
  • One-day juice fasting. On a juice fast, a person abstains from solid foods and drinks juice, water and herbal teas. It is recommended that we drink enough fluid every half an hour to an hour. The juice fasting gives the digestive system a rest and speeds up the growth and generation of new cells.
  • Homotoxicology: Heel’s Detox kit contains Lymphomyosot drops, Nux Vomica-Homaccord drops and Berberis-Homaccord drops. Ten drops of each preparation should be taken three times daily with water. This optimum detoxification strategy should be conducted in conjunction with holistic measures such as change of diet, sanitation of intestinal tract and the reduction of stress.
  • Chelation therapy: During Chelation therapy EDTA (an amino acid) is administered via intravenous drip into the bloodstream. The EDTA attaches itself to the heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury) and holds onto these toxins. In this form it can be excreted through the kidneys in the urine.
  • Colon cleansing: Colon cleansing was used in Egypt over 4000 years ago to rejuvenate the system. There are several steps involved in colon cleansing:
  1. The colon is irrigated by a technique whereby water is gently infused into the large bowel, flowing in and out at steady intervals. The walls of the colon washed and old encrusted feces are loosened and swept away
  2. The healing phase rebuilds and restores a healthy colon. Substances that will cool inflamed areas and strengthen weak sections of the colon wall are infused into the colon.
  • Skin brushing and exercise: During exercise we detoxify our system of impurities through sweat and exhalation of our breath. Exercise slows down the ageing process, increases natural growth factors, fuels the brain with oxygen and forms part of a healthy lifestyle.  Skin brushing uses a natural sisal brush on dry skin to remove the dead skin cells and leaves the pores unclogged. Strokes should be in the direction of the heart.
  • Breathing and stress release techniques: The Taromaro Indians of Mexico were famous for their fantastic health. Their secret can be attributed to breathing exercise combined with physical activity. These two factors increase the action of lymphatic cleansing system.
  • Detox patches: Specially designed Detox Foot Patches are placed on the soles of the feet. During the night the patches will draw out the potentially harmful waste through the feet. The detox patches are removed and discarded.

Detox tips

Doing a detox is a really effective way to lose a few kilos, clear the skin and restore the body’s vitality. The following tips can be implemented with huge success:

  • Take care of your liver as it is the body’s main organ responsible for detoxification. A herbal supplement containing Milk Thistle and Dandelion (NRF Herbal) will support normal liver functioning and promote detoxification
  • It is always a good idea to start the detox over a weekend. One can lock oneself in while one gets to grips with the detox and pamper yourself silly. Maria Garcia Emotions Range contains all you need for this pampering experience
  • Dry skin brushing is recommended to stimulate the lymph and blood circulation for the removal of impurities from under the skin surface. Start at the soles of the feet and work in circular movements toward the heart. Care should be taken not to damage the skin through excessive pressure. Follow up with a warm bath or shower.
  • Support the digestive system:
  • Sporton’s Colon Cleanse is specially formulated to cleanse the digestive system from waste and bacterial that might be trapped
  • Supplementation with Probiflora-9 to maintain the flora in the digestive tract
  • Vital Garlic  can be taken during the detoxification periods

Nutritional support

The following should be implemented as part of a holistic detoxification strategy:

  • Get enough sleep (the body needs 8 hours to recuperate)
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol intake
  • Drink lots of good quality water as this assist the body in flushing the toxins and waste products from the body.
  • Avoid all sugar, and milk. Limit the intake of processed and refined foods
  • Increase the intake of fresh fruit and vegetables

Mineral replacement:

  • Selenium and zinc are particularly important. Pharmaton SA contains vitamins and minerals to maintain optimum nutritional levels in the body.
  • Omega-3 and later combined with omega-6 fatty acids can be very useful
  • Antioxidants to combat the harmful effects of free-radicals

Conclusion

Prevention is better than cure. Choose to stay healthy and to implement a healthy lifestyle.
