Editors Note – “You’ve got so much to give!”
I recently read wise words from a lady who managed to break free from the crippling effects of bulimia. “Losing weight didn’t change my personality and it didn’t lighten the emotional baggage I carried from my childhood. I thought I wanted to be thin. What I really wanted was to be happy and neither my looks, nor my achievements could do that.” Then she shared four life-changing principles: If you have an obsession to be perfect, it will (1) keep you trapped in loneliness, for relationships are built on honesty and total acceptance; (2) it will force you to see your shortcomings as something to hide, instead of opportunities for growth; (3) it will keep you fixated on what you’re going to be one day, instead of enjoying what you are right now; (4) it will rob you of the chance to make your life count, because while you are constantly focused on yourself, you’ll have nothing left to give to others. As a valuable member of the healthcare team, you touch people’s lives on a daily basis. I hope you’ll remember that you have so much to give!
